It's different from a general junk pickup in a few practical ways. Someone has to carry a 200-pound fridge down a walk-up stairwell or through a narrow Kaimuki hallway, and appliances often need to be handled a certain way for disposal because of refrigerants (Freon) in fridges and AC units, which is regulated and can't just go in a landfill bin. A crew doing this work well will ask upfront about stairs, elevators, parking, and whether items are curbside or need to be pulled from inside the house.
What to check before you book
Get a firm quote based on volume or item count, not a vague estimate, and ask whether appliance refrigerant removal is included or billed separately. Confirm if they donate or recycle usable furniture and metal appliances rather than dumping everything, since Oahu's landfill space is limited and some companies work with local donation centers. Ask about crew size for heavy pieces (a two-person minimum matters for anything over a couch), and whether they carry insurance in case a wall or floor gets scuffed during the move.
